Research Connecting Learning, Design and Human Experience

My academic work investigates how people communicate, learn and engage with technology and multimedia in different contexts.

Game Design and Visual Communication

Doctoral research · University of Gloucestershire

My PhD research examined the experience of game-design students entering multidisciplinary programs without a traditional art background. The work focused on difficulties with visual communication and their relationship to learner confidence, engagement and retention.

Through two years of mixed-method action research, I developed a proposed structured and gamified e-learning framework. Storyboarding and preparatory learning objects supported students before class while preserving the essential role of the facilitator.

Website Animation, Culture and User Experience

MSc research · Multimedia

My MSc research examined how cultural differences influenced the effects of website animation on user performance and experience. This work strengthened my understanding of multimedia, visual communication, human–computer interaction and culturally responsive design.

Inquiry Grounded in Practice

My doctoral research combined qualitative and quantitative evidence with observation, iteration and reflection in a real learning environment. This practice-based approach continues to shape how I understand needs and develop learning responses.

Presentations and Publications

My research was presented at EVA London and developed through conference and publication outputs addressing drawing skills, game-design education and the influence of animation and visual communication on users.
