About Me

I’m a researcher who educates. I explore the world of designs and design frameworks of learning.

Here’s a longer, more detailed version:

I’m Leila Maani, and this is a home for a variety of adventures I’ve done through my professional life.

I was curious to understand how animations are made, ever since I was little. This led me to get an undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the School of Engineering. I pursued my passion by doing a Master of Science in Multimedia. On this path I got the opportunity to blend my artistic expertise in sculpturing and painting with my engineering and programing skills. During this phase of education, I had projects on Human Computer Interaction (HCI/UXD) which deepened my understanding of design and the value of its quality. It equally developed my concern about the technical and aesthetic impact of design on users and the quality of their experience.

As time progressed, my love for Multimedia Design and Evaluation grew into research on Game Design specially on the level of human interactions and struggles with communication of ideas. This became a PhD research which broadened my perspectives on Education and Design from different angles. It engaged me with the subjects of intelligence, learning, e-learning, creativity, psychology and neuroscience.

I conducted all my researches in cross-cultural environments and in multi-disciplinary fashion. Along the way I taught Computer Science and Multimedia in various universities which demanded design and management of different strategies in education systems.

Going along this path and considering the fast and inevitable changes in technology, I felt it was the time to integrate my knowledge base with the visions for future. Today, I am passionate about novel approaches to design childhood education and the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
